How the calculation works

Rated accommodation pays a fixed amount per guest aged 18 or over, per night, depending on its star rating.

Unclassified rentals, which covers most Airbnb and Booking flats, pay a percentage: 6.70% of the price per guest per night, capped at €6.43. The price per guest per night is the stay price divided by the number of nights and by every guest, minors included; only adults are then taxed. Of the 6.70%, 5% is the metropolitan tax and 1.70% is an additional 34% levy that funds the new Provence–Côte d'Azur rail line.

Example: €258 for 2 nights and 4 adults gives €32.25 per guest per night, so €2.16 of tax per guest per night and €17.29 for the stay.
